Breathe Easy – Hillcrest’s Tobacco Free Program is Working
September 7, 2014
Did you know that Hillcrest has a comprehensive tobacco prevention program? We sure do, and last year alone, our staff of tobacco prevention specialists had 932 Dubuque-area students sign-up to take the pledge of commitment to be tobacco free.
In conjunction with the Dubuque County Health Department, Hillcrest works to administer a Tobacco Partnership Grant that works to prevent initiation of tobacco use by youth, promotes cessation in adults and youth, eliminate exposure to second-hand smoke, and maintain a tobacco control community coalition. In fact, the Dubuque Area Substance Abuse Coalition has a Tobacco Free Committee that works diligently to keep tobacco away from school campuses, parks and multi-housing family residences.
We have found that individuals who seek counseling to quit tobacco usage are twice as likely to quit as others, that’s why it’s important to contact Hillcrest to find out what your options are for quitting tobacco.
