Adoption Awareness Month

November 21, 2016

There are a number of reasons people are thankful and November seems to be when people count those the most.  Family always seems to hit the top 3.  Every family is different. Every family is loved. Formed by a parent, two parents, step-parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles and siblings.  Some formed by friends and some formed by co-workers. Biological, fostered, or adopted. Not one family is the same.

But could you imagine not having the family you always pictured and dreamt of? This year I am thankful for the 60+ families that I have been able to call my “family”. Together we worked to make their family everything they’ve hoped for. In our fiscal year 2015-2016, we successfully placed 9 children in homes where they will forever be loved by a family that wished for them just as much. Families formed by birth parent(s), adoptive parent(s), grandparent(s) and siblings.

November is National Adoption Awareness Month. Be aware that there are families that are created by the sacrifice of another. Be aware that there are still children in need of a loving, safe and nurturing home. Be aware that not all families choose adoption because of infertility but rather because they feel called to help others in need. Be aware that there is never enough love for a child. The more to love them, the more they will succeed.
