Discover what’s possible. Define your path.
The Intensive Psychiatric Rehabilitation (IPR) Program at Hillcrest Family Services helps adults living with mental health challenges build the life they want—on their own terms. Whether your goals involve work, school, relationships, or independent living, we walk beside you to turn those goals into reality.
Our trained IPR practitioners serve as life coaches, helping you discover what matters most—and supporting you every step of the way.
IPR is based on a nationally recognized model developed by Boston University and adapted for Iowans. Services are person-driven, strength-based, and built around your goals—not a predefined path.
You'll work through five flexible phases at your own pace, including readiness, planning, action, and maintenance.
This program is for people who:
Are 18 Years or Older
Have a Diagnosed Mental Health Condition
Want to make progress in areas like work, school, relationships, or independent living
We assess your readiness to change and explore what a meaningful life looks like to you.
We help you build confidence and motivation before setting goals or taking action.
You choose goals based on what matters most—like housing, education, or employment.
We build real-world skills together and connect you with the right tools and resources.
You practice new strategies and get support to overcome challenges and setbacks.
Once your goal is met, we help you stay on track and adjust when life changes.
We accept Medicaid (Title 19), MHDS of East Central Iowa funding, and grant funding (when available).
If you're unsure about eligibility or cost, we’ll walk through your options with you.
Let’s move forward together.
We believe every person has the ability to grow, heal, and live a life that feels meaningful. If you’re ready to explore what’s next—even if you’re not sure where to start—we’re here to help guide the way.
